A year with us
Not familiar with ARTUS? No worries, we’ll explain everything! Our organization is structured around a variety of activities depending on the time of year.

Auditions
September-October: Class is back in session, and you’ve just arrived in Strasbourg for university. You keep hearing people talk about ARTUS… There’s an introductory meeting that will take place mid-September—the perfect chance to find out more!
At this event, the year’s slate of projects will be presented, and you can choose to participate in the production of a play, either as part of the technical team (sound design, costuming, video) or the artistic team (acting, assisting with staging, set design). If you’d like to act in one of the year’s projects, this is also the time to sign up for auditions!
You can also sign up for various workshops (make-up, lighting, beginner and advanced acting), decide to volunteer, or even join the organization’s board of directors.
Call for proposals
December-January: You’ve been coming to ARTUS regularly for a few months now, and you too want to create your own performing arts project. That’s what the call for proposals is for! You’ll find all the information you need to create your proposal on our website. All you have to do is finish it up and hop! (as the Alsatians say), there you go. Your idea might be selected as one of ARTUS’s shows the following year. You’ll be able to present it at the back-to-school meeting in September and organize your own auditions, building a team to put on your show from the ground up. Responses are usually given sometime in February.
Performances
April-June: Now’s your time to shine! After months and months of work, your whole troupe is ready and you’re going to start performing in one of our partner theaters, the Théâtre du Cube Noir or the Pokop. And it’s a full house!
If you loved this experience, don’t hesitate to shoot your shot again next school year! Maybe this time on the technical side of things?
To keep you inspired in the meantime, come see this year’s performances!(Available here in French only—sorry!)
Workshops
All year long: Wanna learn more about lighting, make-up, or how to improve your acting? Easy! We organize four workshops with professionals every year. Our workshops take place all year long, but you can only sign up for them in September, and you’ll have to hurry—places are limited, and workshops fill up quickly.
Oh, one last thing: because they’re run by professionals in the theater world, our workshops aren’t free. Go to the Prices page to find out more.
The organization
ARTUS is above all an organization for students. If you’re hungry for nonprofit experiences in the performing arts, think about volunteering in the office to help run the organization. We need brains and brawn to make the organization grow!
| A word to non-French speakers:
You too can join ARTUS, so please feel free to come to our first meeting in September and audition! You can participate even if your French isn’t perfect, so long as you’re able to express yourself and understand others. What counts is your talent and your passion for theater. ARTUS is an open and inclusive organization, and we’re also on the lookout for international profiles.
ARTUS’s activities are open to you as much as to French students. You can even propose a show in a different language! So what are you waiting for? Go for it!
